

David Foster
David Foster is a seasoned golf professional with an impressive career spanning over 100 tournaments and numerous accolades. As a Director of Golf Academy, he has trained over 1,500 players across 20 clubs in Germany and the Netherlands, helping many achieve handicaps under 10.
In 2016, he organized the first Pro-Am Golf Tournament between Germany and the Netherlands. Two years later, in 2018, David brought his expertise to Romania, organizing a highly successful three-day Pro-Am at Paul Tomita Golf Club. The event featured 24 international professional golfers, 72 amateur players, and significant sponsor support.
Passionate about youth development, David has dedicated 22 years to providing free sports training, including tennis and golf lessons, for kids. He founded the Foundation for Young Golf Players in 1992, impacting over 12,000 students across 73 schools.
Short History
Diplomatic Club Golf Course
- 1922 – Baneasa Country Club sports club is created by 143 Romanian personalities and two NGOs:
- Jockey club
- Automobile club
- the new sport club receives 30 ha (49 acres) from the municipally to set up the park and use 15 ha of them for the club
- the entire set up of the Herastrau (nowadays King Michael I) park was done by the club, on its expenses
- 1923 – the golf course is opened to players
- Alexandru Marghiloman – Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Romania, Foreign Affairs Minister, President of the Romanian Red Cross
- Prince Ghica
- Prince Barbu Alexandru Știrbey – Internal Affairs Minister, personal adviser of King Ferdinand I
- 1923 – first shot that marks the opening of the golf club is done by the Romanian King Ferdinand I
- for ladies – first shot was made by Queen Mary of Romania
- Prince Constantin Basarab Brâncoveanu, also:
- President of Rotary Club Bucharest 1934 – 1935
- District Governor for Rotary District 84

- important Romanian business man, left for USA during WWII, worked with Allen Dulles – private lawyer at that time
- under the communist regime the club entered the administration of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and continued to provide lessons for foreign diplomats with Romanian trainer Paul Tomiţă until 1975
- low interest in golf from the local leadership
- after 1990 the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and several NGOs started revitalizing the activity of the country club
- the only golf course located inside an European capital
